Specimen 05 — Extended living space

Osprey Inflatable Roof Top Tent

The Osprey answers the standard complaint about roof top tents — that they are a bed and nothing else — with an extendable wing. The tent body measures 220 × 160 × 146 cm; with the Osprey Wing extension deployed, the covered footprint reaches 308 × 280 × 146 cm, giving a shaded, rain-covered living area beside the sleeping quarters. The tent sleeps 2–3 people on a 220 × 160 cm air mattress, carries a 200 kg internal load rating, and adds a panoramic skylight over the bed.

A tent with a room attached

The extension is the product. On the Skiff or Castle, cooking, changing and waiting out rain happen outside the tent or not at all; the Osprey's wing creates covered floor space at the foot of the ladder, under the same inflatable structure, pitched in the same inflation session. The body fabric is a 200G uncoated polyester-cotton — a breathable canvas-feel material rather than a coated synthetic — with 300D Oxford covers, nylon mesh and SBS zippers. Air beams are 11 cm grey PVC, between the Skiff's pull-wire beams and the Castle's 12 cm set.

At 27 kg the Osprey is a two-person lift, and it folds to 50 × 42 × 84 cm — a taller, squarer pack than the Skiff's flat bag, which suits vehicles with a boxy cargo area. If living space is your priority but 27 kg is not, the alternative in this catalogue is a tent plus a separate car side awning; the Osprey's argument is that the cover arrives already attached, with no second setup.

What is in the box

The listed package is: tent ×1, four 6 m straps, repair kit, a 2.3 m telescopic ladder, shoe bag, manual, tent bag and a two-way hand pump. As with the rest of the line, the rechargeable electric air pump is the practical way to inflate a tent of this size; confirm whether it is included in your configuration when you enquire.

Ordering notes

Ask for the MOQ and lead time that apply to the Osprey when you send your enquiry, and confirm the specification and package contents in writing before payment. Retailers comparing family models should also look at the Shell Castle (four-season, both-side entry) and the Limited Edition.
